An odd collection of characters--including the separated head and body of Jean-Paul Sartre, a man-dog named after various noted female authors, the dog’s master, a retail manager and a crowd of hapless shoppers--try to find meaning, or at least predictability, as they are yanked back and forth between a consumerist dystopia where disembodied voices from above call the shots and hell from Sartre’s No Exit.
